There is a search bar on the home page, and in the gray filter box on the left-hand side of search results pages. To do a text search, enter one or more keywords in the search bar and click return if you are on the home page, or Apply if you are in the gray filter box. You'll see a results page with listings that contain the keywords. There is a column of boxes on the left side of the page. These boxes contain filters you can use to narrow your search. For example, if you want to narrow your search to businesses for sale, click on the purple down arrow to the right of All Categories in the Category box. You'll see a list of categories with the number of listings in each category. Scroll down and click on Businesses For Sale. The page will refresh and show business for sale listings that contain the keywords. If you want to narrow your search to manufacturing businesses, click on the purple down arrow to the right of All Sectors. You'll see a list of industry sectors. Scroll down and click on Manufacturing. The page will refresh and show only manufacturing businesses for sale that contain the keywords. If you want to narrow your search to the United States, click on the purple down arrow to the right of Worldwide in the Location box. You'll see a list of countries. Scroll down and click on United States. The page will refresh and show only manufacturing businesses for sale in the United States that contain the keywords.

You can also use the filters to broaden your search. For example, if you want to change the location back to Worldwide, click on the purple down arrow to the right of United States in the Location box. You'll see a list of countries. Click on Worldwide at the top of the list. The page will refresh and show manufacturing businesses for sale worldwide.The filters will change as you change your search. For example, a filter for states will appear after you select United States and disappear after you select Worldwide. 

The filters are different for each category. Some categories have location filters while others do not. Some categories have financial filters, such as price and sales, while others do not.
